CalCOFI 1202NH CTD Notes
SIO RV New Horizon Winter Cruise, 75 scheduled stations all completed.
New winch operator so occasional stoppage & recovery issues at the beginning of
the cruise.

16Mar2017 Re-processing update: the cruise was reprocessed using the original final regression coefficients and sta.csvs.
Casts 004, 005, 006, 007 were re-merged with sta.csvs since the 270m bottle oxygen value was bad and throwing off the
sta-corrected CTD oxygens. These stations were replotted and looked much better. In addition to the 82-column CTD.csv
format update, adding data quality codes to the CTD.csvs. The secondary sensor data plots were also generated.
Lastly, the filenames were updated to YY-YYMMSC_LLLLSSSS_###DU and the .asc files voltage headers were relabeled.
The original unlabeled voltage .asc files are also in the archive under the "original_asc-hdr" folder.

Cast 1: pH sensor not uncovered during cast - no data

Cast 1 - 3:  O2 coefficients incorrect for the first 3 casts, fixed after cast 3

Cast 21 - 3500m deep cast; ISUS+battery, PAR, pH, & altimeter removed, cables
dummied. 1 hour 12mins to get from 2-3500m.

Cast 24 - big rolls, rough weather

Cast 26 - only 13 bottles tripped due to Navy restricting station 90.45 time.
37min cast.

Cast 28: pH sensor problem at ~260m on downcast - jelly or bio-fouling?

Cast 29: bottle tripped at 75m not 70m by mistake

Cast 37: Santa Monica Basin station, 759m cast, calm night

Cast 42: extra surface bottle tripped because #21 did not close until #22 tripped

Cast 44: bottles 20 & 24 did not close; carousel cleaned post-cast

Cast 45: all bottles tripped even though only 21 were needed, all closed.

Cast 49: started 3x, 1st winch failure at 66m; 2nd data collection not started;
3rd worked fine

Cast 50: rough and windy; Oozeki trawled first.

Cast 51: really rough, CTD down at 30-40m/min. Nets cancelled.

Cast 52: really rough, severe wire angles on upcast

Cast 55: Bottle #7 only 1/2 full, bottom ajar? or closed when coming out?

Cast 62: emerald green ocean, occasional big rolls

Cast 66: 1000m cast instead of 3500m, sensors left on; duplicate tripped at 270m
because of non-confirmation of the 1st 270m closure.

Cast 74: Beaufort 6! Rough & windy

Cast 75: Rough & windy.
